Plot Summary:Clipper ships taking the shortest route between the Mississippi and the Atlantic often end up on the shoals of Key West in the 1840s. Salvaging the ships' cargos has become a lucrative business for two companies -- one headed by a feisty young woman. Then she falls in love with the captain of a wrecked ship while he recuperates at her home. She travels to Charleston and is charming to the man most likely to be head of the captain's company, thinking she will be able to get the captain the position he wants on the company's first steam ship.

作为一部海上冒险题材影片，海上动作戏实在太少，多数篇幅都在谈情说爱以及无聊的法庭审判情节，结尾处短短几分钟却来个章鱼加海啸的剧烈反转。三角恋的故事太浮夸，任性的女主角似乎再次阐述女人是祸水的观点。约翰韦恩少有的非正派角色~
三角恋情总是电影中很热衷的一个题材，这一次两个男人喜欢上了同一个女人，这个女人的态度总是让人觉得有点暧昧，或许她两个都喜欢吧，最后一个男人为了救另一个男人而死这样问题似乎也就解决了，影片中的海难场面海底搜索的场面还是拍的蛮壮观的，当然那只章鱼就有点太假了。。。
