In prison for killing his nemesis, Patrick Jane must prove that the man he shot really was Red John. Meanwhile, Lisbon urges Van Pelt to seek counseling in the aftermath of the death of her fiancé, Detective O'Laughlin. Written by CBS PublicityAfter shooting Tim Carter, who admitted being Red John, Patrick waits to be arrested. The whole team is suspended, but decides to go all the way for him, even resorting to unorthodox methods. Jane defends himself in court, accepting a $1,000,000 bail he can't afford, but wins it at poker against a crime lord inmate. With some assistance from recovering Lisbon, he closes in on Tim's widow Sally and the missing girl she brought up. It pays off, but his faith rests with the jury, while the CSI director is more eager than ADA Ardiles to 'avoid favoritism'.
